Crafted in high-temperature black clay, this vase reveals a deeper, more dramatic identity compared to the lighter, more neutral tones often found in Studio Pepa’s work. Its sculptural, blooming form unfolds like a flower in motion, bold, organic, and intentionally irregular.
The making of this piece required over a week of continuous work. Its complex, open structure and generous scale made the shaping process particularly demanding, pushing both material and gesture to their limits.
Every single line you see has been drawn by hand, one by one, in uninterrupted continuity, even through the most intricate folds of the petals. A slow, meticulous process that embraces imperfection while demanding precision.
The glazing alone took ten days to complete. Applied using a fine precision make-up brush, each surface, inside every curve and between every undulation, was carefully reached and finished, layer after layer.
More than a vase, this is a sculptural object. A unique piece that embodies time, patience, and an experimental departure from the classic Studio Pepa aesthetic, while remaining deeply rooted in its handmade, materic soul.
